We are looking for a high-potential individual with technical proficiency and business savvy to support SCI’s growth by drawing insights from data, helping launch and manage R&D pilots, and developing whitespace analyses that shape future initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong, relevant skills and the ability to grow with the role.
As part of the Corporate Development team, you will help explore new business models, recommend projects to senior management, and turn those concepts into operational changes. You will have primary responsibility for a range of complex and challenging assignments. The improvements you help incubate will lead to meaningful innovations in how we reach and serve our customers.
This team prototypes new pricing structures, marketing plans, staffing models, location footprints, and other R&D concepts to help appeal to new customers and achieve long-term growth.
70% R&D analytics
Complete assigned analyses, with minimal supervision. Take initial problem statements and, understanding the purpose and goal, deliver a cogent work product that satisfies the business need. This entails utilizing internal and external data sources, advanced technical skill, and the drive to ask for help when needed. Delivering an answer, rather than lots of data, will be key to success.
Use pricing data, competitor intelligence, demographic trends, primary research on customer preferences, and other inputs to help answer a variety of questions and identify opportunities to test changes in our business model.
Apply statistical methods such as multi-variate regressions, correlations, and interpreting significance (R2, t-Stat, and P-values) to identify patterns and trends from imperfect data sources. Consolidate and interpret information for business improvement. Output format will typically be in Excel or PowerPoint, but can include mapping systems or visual analytics tools.
20% Recurring reporting and results tracking
Generate performance tracking data files (typically monthly) for presentation to senior management regarding the status of ongoing innovation pilot efforts. Utilize OLAP data cubes, Excel pivot tables, and PowerPoint to generate and deliver results. Help interpret the emergent themes and learnings to summarize the findings.
Additionally, improve the efficiency and repeatability of these monthly processes to create more time for higher-value efforts.
10% Whitespace analytics and big-picture concepts
Help initiate hypotheses, gather supporting data, and develop business cases for new improvement strategies. Continuously look for the next big opportunity and help prove the value of taking action.
