  • Overview & Responsibilities

    The Content Marketing Manager is responsible for directing overall online content strategy, execution and syndication for Service Corporation International. This individual will develop and maintain the “brand voice” online and will drive brand awareness and lead conversion by developing and optimizing content that can be deployed in multiple media. He or she will manage a team of external writers, producers and/or content agencies and work cross-functionally with other leaders to achieve marketing and business goals. A successful candidate will bring a track record of developing successful content marketing programs and be proactive, creative and able to execute in a large enterprise.




    30% Planning and Development of Content Strategy and Content Marketing Initiatives

    • Develops annual and quarterly content strategies to meet business goals
    • Leads agile content development process including development and maintenance of digital editorial calendar
    • Conducts discovery to determine stakeholders’ content marketing needs
    • Initiates new content marketing projects to further SCI’s marketing and business goals
    • Provides input on inbound marketing programs with an advanced understanding of SEO and information architecture
    • Owns social media processes and policies, and proactively manages risk for real-time content development
    • Stays abreast of legal and regulatory policies affecting content and trends in content marketing, online media and SEO
    • Other duties as assigned


    50% Management and Execution of Content Marketing Strategy, Production and Distribution

    • Develops and manages an end-to-end agile content development process including brand, legal, localization and translation reviews
    • Deploys content across various channels to maximize engagement and conversion, including websites, blogs, video, mobile and social
    • Creates and manages a rich content production schedule in coordination with project owners, writers, designers and developers to deliver on time and on budget for corporate and field stakeholders
    • Assigns content marketing projects to marketing associates, contractors and/or content agencies
    • Establishes and sustains digital brand voice with the highest level of quality and consistency
    • Maintains SCI’s Digital Style Guide and external editorial calendar
    • Other duties as assigned


    20% Measurement and Monitoring of Metrics and KPIs

    • Measures the impact of content marketing initiatives through agreed-upon metrics and KPIs
    • Tracks and reports performance of all digital content marketing objectives


    Requirements & Qualifications


    • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, advertising or related field



    • Seven (7) years of experience writing engaging, consumer-facing content (with an emphasis in the digital realm) with a track record of managing successful content marketing programs


    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Background in advertising, branding, journalism or digital, preferably at a national scale or for retail brands
    • Strong project management skills
    • Successful track record of developing agile processes and managing outsourced teams to execute content marketing strategies
    • Skilled writer and editor with successful track record developing digital content for SEO, engagement and conversion
    • Experience writing with different styles, tones and voices
    • Adaptable, hardworking and curious team player
    • Willingness to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees within various departments to maximize performance
    • Experience working in content management systems, preferably Sitecore
    • Working knowledge of SEO, information architecture, user experience, accessibility and basic HTML
