    Join a disciplined, agile and creative digital marketing team supporting an organization with a website reaching over 5 million users each month.

    The Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Specialist will be responsible for implementing Service Corporation International’s global and local SEO strategies. Key responsibilities include:

    • Implement SEO strategies to increase qualified web traffic to SCI’s ecosystem of web properties in Sitecore and other content management systems
    • Collaborate with marketing, IT and field marketing staff to execute on- and off-site SEO techniques for desktop and mobile on both global and local scales
    • Support local funeral homes and cemeteries by driving search market share in over 1,000 cities in the United States and Canada

    This candidate should be familiar with core SEO tactics and applications including keyword research, internal and external link building and local SEO. The SEO Specialist should be technical and data-driven, but able to collaborate and communicate effectively with creative and non-technical team members and stakeholders. A successful candidate will be a self-starter who will enjoy identifying areas of improvement and implementing strategies to increase qualified traffic and key rankings.


    Triage and Respond to Field Requests

    • Ensure prompt and professional communication with members of the field marketing team or field leadership (Market Directors, Location Managers, General Managers, etc.)
    • Investigate and resolve routine requests related to business information on key verticals like Google and Yelp
    • Triage requests for SEO assistance in various markets or regions
    • Prepare reports to support meetings with field stakeholders

    Research & Planning

    • Compile industry-level or market-level analysis on the organic search environment, including keyword research, backlink analysis, and local ranking analysis
    • Collaborate with content team to implement strategic content marketing programs
    • Collaborate with Digital Advertising Specialist to establish a complementary overall search marketing strategy
    • Help execute complementary SEO strategies with business partners’ websites
    • Stay current with changes in search engine algorithms and technical, inbound and content marketing SEO techniques

    Content Updates & Quality Assurance

    • Work inside the Sitecore content management system (CMS) to optimize content and technical SEO factors such as metadata, internal links, etc.
    • Manage updates and optimization of local profiles for 2,000 locations with an external vendor
    • Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) of site enhancements being released by the development team
    • Collaborate with content marketing team to create and publish optimized web content

    Reporting & Monitoring

    • Monitor rankings, web analytics and technical issues on an ongoing basis
    • Provide regular, deep analysis of campaign performance to Digital Marketing Director and Digital Marketing Manager
    • Monitor local SEO accounts for consistency and accuracy


    • Manage relationships with various SEO vendors and agencies
    • Assist with billing, record keeping and other administrative tasks related to SEO
    • Other duties as assigned

    Requirements & Qualifications


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Computer Science or related field


    • Minimum two (2) to five (5) years’ experience in SEO or demand generation with demonstrated results.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Ability to think critically and remain flexible among diverse and ever-changing business environment in a complex organization
    • Proficient with digital marketing toolsets, including Google AdWords, Google Search Console, Google Analytics and keyword/competitive/backlink analysis programs (SEMRush, MOZ, SpyFu, Conductor, AHrefs, Majestic, Screaming Frog, etc.)
    • Ability to run analysis and reports fluently and efficiently in Microsoft Excel
    • Working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, and/or other programming language(s)
    • Fluent in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional team members and communicate complex, technical concepts across multiple organizational levels
    • Strong time management skills and ability to balance competing priorities and overlapping deadlines
