  • Overview & Responsibilities

    Position Summary:

     Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers by supervising the Interment Office in accordance with Rose Hills strategic management practices, including General Supervising Standards, Staff Supervision and Development, Scheduling/Staffing, Compliance, Safety, and Budget Expectations. Ensure that phone support is well balanced, empathetic and efficient.


    Essential Job Functions:

    Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.


    1. Supervise the Interment Office according to management expectations set forth in the Performance Review process.
    2. Comply with state and federal laws, and with established Company rules and regulations by ensuring that documentation to support the disposition of remains are complete, accurate, and filed.
    3. Stay updated on changes in cemetery, crematory, and mortuary law, state and county health departments, and the death care industry.
    4. Assist and empower the team to resolve customer complaints by troubleshooting and taking appropriate action.
    5. Ensure a high level of quality control through the monitoring of customer phone calls and regularly meeting with associates to communicate job performance and facilitate development.
    6. Recruit and coordinate training of all interment office personnel.
    7. Regularly communicate with outside mortuaries and vendors to ensure a smooth process for all families utilizing cemetery services.
    8. Find creative solutions to meet call volume answer support expectations set forth by management.
    9. Support cross-functional departments by communicating regularly and participating in rotating manager on duty weekends.
    10. Maintain positive team relationships by leading through personal example, listening to team members, encouraging commitment and loyalty, showing genuine interest in employees, and rewarding high levels of job performance, behavior, and attendance.
    11. Lead team to reach Company’s SMART goals by understanding the Company Strategic Plan, communicating it clearly to the team, and ensuring that milestones are reached on time.
    12. Maintain fair and balanced staffing schedule that meets Office demands by understanding work flow volume, understanding employee skill and experience levels, and considering employee’s needs for time away from work.
    13. Use standard written and verbal English communication skills, and articulates ideas clearly and professionally to gain support from staff, other departments, and government agencies.
    14. Any other duties assigned by management.

    Requirements & Qualifications

    Experience and Education and Special Skills:


    • Knowledge of Mortuary, Cemetery, and/or supervisory experience is preferred, but not required
    • A.A. degree in business or mortuary science, or equivalent is preferred
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to positivity and proactively handle customer concerns
    • High level of initiative, accountability, and sense of ownership
    • Current CA driver’s license and good driving record
    • Knowledge of HMIS is a plus
    • Current CA driver’s license and good driving record
    • Bilingual English/Chinese and/or English/Spanish or English/Vietnamese preferred
