  • Overview & Responsibilities


    Responsible for the management of sourcing consumable indirect products and services (approximately $60 million annually).  Removes cost from consumable goods while sourcing products/services that offer the best total value to the Company.  Focuses the efforts of the department on ensuring our locations have the highest quality products/services at the most cost-effective price. Manages and oversees the team that monitors and supports the on-going activities within the Supply Chain. Ensure compliance with contracted terms and conditions as well as collaboration on specific projects as assigned.



    Indirect Product/Service Management 40%

    • Source indirect products and services such as print collateral, promotional goods, and signage, etc. Consults and works with other functional areas within the Company as required.
    • Manage vendor relationships.
    • Manage indirect product/service specifications, supplier evaluations, and competitive bids.  Negotiate contract terms and conditions as well as renewals.  Collects rebates and communicates the value of the overall program to end-users.
    • Participates in the development and implementation of indirect products/services and programs that strategically support the Company and Supply Chain Management

    Indirect Product/Service Analysis 35%

    • Participate in the evaluation of new indirect products and services.  Communicates regularly with operating Market Management to determine needs and assesses the effectiveness of national purchasing programs.  Oversee the resolution of on-going operational issues.
    • Works continuously to optimize the order to delivery systems between preferred suppliers and operating locations.  Determines the cost/benefit of centralized compared to decentralized ordering
    • Coordinates review of invoices for indirect product/service and confirms accuracy.  Monitor on-time payments and rebate allocations.  Validate strategic supplier costs.
    • Develop reporting standards and requirements.  Coordinates & manages internal and external supplier reporting of key activities.    Reviews reports for accuracy and trends.  Provides Director with the information necessary to make key decisions/approvals on time.
    • Participates on Shared Responsibility Teams to achieve broader organizational goals and improve the cost-effectiveness of Supply Chain Management in general.

    People Development 25%

    • Develop a strong, trusting, and reliable team.  Understand team members career aspirations and provide assignments to develop skills or close gaps.  Constructively address issues and provide tangible and appropriate feedback.  Apply a proactive and collaborative management style to increase employee engagement and minimize turnover.  Monitor training and licensing requirements ensuring staff is re-trained/licensed before expiration.
    • Responsible for screening candidates (internal and external) and hiring or promoting skilled and effective staff. Establish pay, recommends pay increases, special pays, and career advancements.
    • Discipline staff as necessary. Writes development plans to close behavior or skill gaps.  Collaborate with Human Resources throughout discipline, development, and termination processes.  Recommends and discusses terminations with Leadership.

    Requirements & Qualifications


    Education & Licenses:

    • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing, Business Administration or a related discipline
    • MBA a plus

    Experience & Knowledge:

    • At least eight (8) years’ procurement experience with increasing responsibility, including enterprise-wide purchasing for North America. Procurement experience for Hawaii and Puerto Rico a plus.
    • At least two (2) years’ supervisory experience preferred
